SDRC Junior
Summer Camps

SDRC is excited to offer 2 summer camp options on beautiful Mission Bay for boys and girls ages 10-18.
Our Intro to Rowing Summer Camp is for age 10 up to incoming 8th graders. Summer camp participants will learn the basic rowing technique, how to safely handle equipment, the importance of teamwork, and rowing specific exercises. Campers will begin summer camp rowing in training barges and then proceed in to training boats as summer camp progresses and will have the opportunity to try sweep rowing (1 oar per rower) and sculling (2 oars per rower). Campers will watch short videos demonstrating proper rowing form and review technique on rowing machines.
Our Learn to Row Summer Camp is for incoming high school students (grades 9-12) and is geared towards athletes who are interested in trying a new sport and is good preparation for anyone considering joining SDRC’s high school racing team during the school year. This summer camp will focus on proper rowing form and give campers an introduction to rowing specific conditioning and fitness. Summer camp participants will have the opportunity to practice on rowing machines and to row in 1 and 8 person boats and to practice sweep rowing and sculling.
After the summer camps we encourage all new rowers to join a team! San Diego Rowing Club offers a competitive high school team as well as a middle school team during in the Fall and Spring that are open to students from all over San Diego!

COVID-19 UPDATE- 3/20/2020
As you are all aware, there is a lot going on with the current outbreak of COVID-19 in California, the United States, and across the world. Currently, SDRC is shut down and all of our programming is on pause until we are cleared to do so by local, state, and federal authorities. We will continue to monitor the situation and defer to experts and will only re-open when it is safe and prudent to do so.

For anyone interested, our summer camps are currently open for registration via the links below. If we do end up needing to cancel some or all of our camps, your registration fees will be refunded or pro-rated if camps are shortened. At this point, our website is not able of refunding straight back to your credit card, but we are able to send refund checks if needed.

We will certainly keep everyone updated as we get a clearer picture of what the summer might look like. As you all know, things are changing very quickly each day as are our operations here at SDRC. In the meantime, please feel free to email me at Hope to see you all out on the water this summer!
